interest, I no longer do one on one counseling, nor can I package a loan
request for someone that I have counseled - this is part of the Code of
Ethics for SCORE.)
Computer Skills - Fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access,
PowerPoint, and Publisher as well as several graphics programs. I can code
Internet web pages in HTML, but more importantly know how to leverage this
important resource, and provide direction on how to increase its usage and
applicability.
Accomplishments:
Started and grew a successful business operation from the ground up - the
Spokane Area Business Information Center (BIC). I started and ran the BIC as
a business, measuring its successes, managing finances and operations,
purchasing resources, and reporting to the partners in the joint venture. I
built one of the top entrepreneurial libraries in the Northwest. Developed
operating policies and procedures, systems to improve efficiency and track
results. Developed partnerships in the community to increase exposure,
provide funding, and increase usage of resources. Conducted market research
to identify and target the specific needs of small business. Worked with
entrepreneurs, counseled, found resources to help them start and improve
their own operations. Developed and published 60-page regional small
business resource guide, developed comprehensive business resource web site
for the Inland Northwest.
Developed Loan Briefings - Most people want to know about
financing a business. To save time, improve the quality of information going
out, increase usage of the library and SCORE workshops and promote better
business planning, I developed the 1 hour Loan Briefing in 1996. Over 500
people a year attend here, and SBA now holds the briefings nationwide.
Developed/ Coordinated Small Business Month in the Inland Northwest
2000-2004 - Coordinated a month-long celebration of small business,
created marketing materials and website, coordinated communication and
marketing of events by all partners. Grew from 14 organizations
participating and offering 20 events, to 57 organizations offering over 150
events in 2004.
Developed Tracking Databases - 1. To track SBA loans, cross
reference to bank loan numbers, assure compliance. 2. To measure usage of
resources in the Business Information Center (BIC.) I developed a workshop
management database to streamline workshop registration, record keeping and
referrals for events done with all partners at the BIC. I also developed the
641 database with Richard Blum in 1997 to track customers. We received an
award from national SBA, and that program was the basis for the Economic
Development Management Information System that is now being used by the SBA
and its resource partners nationwide.
Developed Mentoring Programs for Women Entrepreneurs - As the
SBA's Women's Business Ownership Representative (1987-2005) I formed the
Women's Network for Entrepreneurial Training in the Inland Northwest,
matching individual entrepreneurs with experienced mentors (1988-1990) which
was the model at that time. To increase efficiency and reach more women, I
created quarterly roundtables with SBA resource partners, and in 1995
organized the first NAWBO Chapter in the Pacific Northwest, which reached
far more women with less staff time required.
Expanded on SBA Success Story program, developing it into an
effective marketing vehicle for SBA and its resource partners in the
northwest. Framed stories are presented to entrepreneurs at public venues,
to SBA resource and lending partners, provided to the media and posted on
the Internet. These entrepreneurs sing our praises, and our partners use the
stories in joint marketing. This type of marketing is a service now
offered by SBA Business Solutions.
Experience - over 25 yrs experience in SBA lending as an SBA
loan officer, processing, underwriting and dealing with troubled accounts at
SBA. Over 3 yrs experience in banking, overseeing all SBA loans and
maintaining a loan portfolio of SBA and direct loans.

It is our privilege to work with several outstanding trainers and

consulting to businesses in their own right, and are not affiliated with SBA
